Winter Blues!
... I can't believe it's snowing again in London. I've just cycled home and it's started to come down thick and fast. I can't wait for spring to come, although I love the snow...and in anticipation I've wanted to make something to brighten things up.
This small buntin only took me a few hours over a couple of days while kicking back and watching t.v in the evening. I've just got to find the perfect place now to hang it!

New Year and new inspiration
I finally finished the crochet blanket for my sister 'Meesh'. It was presented to her on Christmas day and I've got to say I was a bit sad to hand it over. Not only the amount of time it took me to do in short notice but it has inspired me to keep making them. The simple granny square is easy enough to do but once sewing together it can make a quite impressive item.
Additionally to making this blanket I started a number of new projects using felt. I forgot how easy it is to cut and sew. I had so much fun and it is to space and sew. These two ginger bread people where made for my two nieces hidden in a small packet with chocolate coins also side two small elephants.

crochet crazy
Well, I woke up today and the first thing I thought about was wool and my crochet needle ... I truely have the bug! Most Mondays I have off from my daily work. Crocheting has become a real distraction and my mind is busying with projects I want to try. Hopefully this week I will take a trip up into the West End of London to buy more yarn as my current supply is a bit limited. So far I have made different hearts, flowers and made my first beenie hat! Quietly happy that my textile skills are coming back!
Things I want to crochet next:
Headband earwarmer
Wrist warmers
Neck warmer or cowl
Labels:
crochet

11th month
I've been really quite the last couple of months because I've been focused more on my playground work. Mainly on a Sunday I read other peoples blog's and catch up with what they have been up to. This has inspired me to be more creative, if other's can do why can't I find the time?
I think about making, colour, yarn and crafts materials all day but finding the time outside of my daily work to be creative can be hard. I have a billion things I want to make and tackle but only find time to make notes, sketches and doddles.
The last couple of weeks I have really got back into textiles and this has made me pick up my crochet needle in the evenings. My sister has requested a crochet blanket for christmans...once I had mastered the scitiches again choosing the style of the squares took sometime and I have a small basket now with different size and coloured samples. Maybe afterwards i will use these for a mis-matched blanket too!
This morning I attempted to try to make a 'hello kitten' crochet patch. It's slightly out so I think I will give it another try!

wild garden
Seeds I planted ealier this year have bloomed and add a splash of colour around the playground. It's been really exciting to see that appears as I have forgotten what I planted months ago.
Blue cornflowers are my favourite.
I have grown some really tall 'giant american' sunflowers.
Wild flower bed.

Day of the Dead mask
I've been working on this new 'Day of the Dead'inspired mask.
Looking at paintings from the artist called Sylvia Ji who I found on the interent. I like the realist figures and possing mixed with the design, patterns and colours from mexican folk art. I'm thinking about adding colourful wool, blues and greens as hair and making a headdress to finish off piece. I took this mask head to my playground and the children I work with really like it which was a surprise as I thought it might spook them alittle!
